 SAMPLS-PROFILE

EACH INDIVIDUAL CLIMBER is responsible to meet their fundraising goal before Ascent Day on August 6 . Spread the word on your social networks, get together with your team and use our fundraising materials to put on a dinner, give presentations, or otherwise help ensure everyone on your team meets their goal!

ON ASCENT DAY, it’s going to simply be you and your team setting out to conquer your peak. Connect with them well before Ascent Day. Each team taking part in the ’54 is doing so independently – so do your homework to make your climb a success. Plan your route together. Ensure everyone understands their role on your team. Train together, fundraise together, and get to know each other to make sure you do everything you can to make your climb safe and successful. Your team needs you just as much as you need them to get to the top and back, so be sure you’re ready.

3.ASCENT DAY: CLIMB YOUR PEAK ON August 6, 2016

ASCENT-DAY

Before you strap up, gear up, and hit the trail, make sure that you’ve planned well and have at least one experienced Fourteener alumni to help safely lead your team. We’re hoping to see most (if not all) teams summit early in the morning and be safely on their way back before the afternoon rains roll in. Plan accordingly.

On Ascent Day, updates from across the state will stream in to our live feed on the co54.org site so that your family and friends can monitor your progress and view photos and videos of the event in real-time. As long as you have phone service your team communications person will also get texts letting you know what other teams have summited as well as other relevant updates.

There will also be film crews hiking with some of the teams to capture their adventure; the ’54 is going to be epic, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it.

We’ll also be giving away the awards outlined on the CONTESTS page! We have some amazing prizes such as a round trip for two to Nicaragua and a cornucopia of coveted gear from our sponsors, and can’t wait to see you there (and hopefully hand you a medal!).

100% of funds raised through the COLORADO 54 go directly to the nonprofit organization Second Mile Water. These funds will allow Second Mile Water to help five impoverished communities in the Jalapa Valley of Nicaragua gain permanent access to clean, safe drinking water. Second Mile Water exists to bring a permanent end to the water crisis by inspiring people to social action, and focuses on not only going the first mile to see people gain initial access to clean water, but going the second to make sure that access is permanent. For more information on how we work, please visit the website at secondmilewater.org.
